Travellers and tourists to Beijing are mesmerised by its magnificent ancient charm. The historical monuments enthrall one and all. Tourists prefer staying closer to the main city. Royal Phoenix, a premier hotel is a decent launching pad for visits to the Forbidden City and other Beijing central city sites. The location is excellent. Walking distance to the subway. Many shops and restaurants on the main street including the world famous Wangfujian street or snacks street. Though it is down a hutong (alleyway), it is less than a 5 minute walk to the main street. One can even walk to the Forbidden city if one wants to. On the basis of price and location This hotel is a pleasant surprise. It is not an exciting or stylish hotel certainly - but it has big decent rooms, clean, good bathrooms, lots of hot water, and very comfortable bed. It is in a good area down a narrow a lane. Staff and service is helpful and friendly. Though the ambience or cute details are missing to make it a memorable hotel. For the money it is of great value. The breakfast buffet is excellent with a wide selection of Asian and Western choices. Do try out the restaurant. An 8 course meal for two for 98 yuan ($16) and it is delicious. Go for it , you will like it. The deluxe rooms are large and furnished tastefully for comfort. Everything is perfectly laid out in the rooms- from the furniture to the bathroom fittings. The rain shower and hand held showers both are good and spews hot water. The staff is certainly attentive and although not everyone has command of English language, there is always someone close by to assist. It has amazing private dining rooms with an excellent chef and attentive staff. Go ahead and absolutely take advantage of this unique opportunity. You will certainly love all of it! The hotel is close to several shops and small restaurants as also to Dongsi subway station and a large Wu-Mart (supermarket) are just a five minute walk. Other possible downside is that the location in Qianliang Hutong makes several taxi drivers refuse to drive there. For me, the location is part of the charm.

Travellers to the city of China are awestruck by its beauty and regal splendour. One of the more famous hotels to choose from is Royal Phoenix. It is a hip hotel tucked away in the lanes near Dongsi metro in old Beijing. It’s quirky, welcoming and bursting with bright colors, without compromising on the fundamentals of an international hotel. The suites of Royal Phoenix, each of which is decorated in a different theme, open directly facing onto the hutong and are fully equipped with modern comforts and amenities. This is a modern new complex in the historically important Dongcheng district. There are many positives to count in while staying at Royal Phoenix: Rooms are impressive as they are brand new. Lots of dark wood and very clean common area. Electric safe in closet is big enough for a laptop, portable DVD player, a Kindle and a camera all at the same time. Beautiful bathroom with marble floor and shower. Big rainfall shower head plus handheld shower wand. Shower gel/body wash, shampoo, conditioner & body lotion provided, as well as toothbrushes & paste, cotton swabs, sewing kit, shower cap and plastic comb. Powerful ionic hair dryer in desk drawer is a good. There are slippers and bath robes in closet. Used slippers are replaced with a new pair each day. Huge flat screen TV with standard inputs for your iPod or portable DVD player is available in every room. Carrying iPod is a good idea because there is no entertainment channel available in English. Royal Phoenix hotel is upscale and well maintained. The big window into the shower is surely a dampener, although it has a Venetian blind. The breakfast buffet is sumptuous and nice each morning. Eggs made to order and plenty of cereal to start your day. The location is little tough inside Qianliang as most of the taxi drivers have to be guided with written address in Chinese. The guests have to walk down the lane, it becomes rather inconvenient with the luggage. Although one can always take the assistance of the bell boy. Front Desk and Lobby is also tastefully done up. The staff knows little English but they are helpful and courteous.
