The sculptor János Marschalkó decorated the beautiful bridge towers. He sculpted the Hungarian coat of arms i.e. imposing stone lions. They guard the bridge on both the sides. The sculptor committed suicide by throwing himself in the river in the river when he got to know that the lions had no tongues, according to legend. It all happened during the bridge's opening ceremony, a witness stated publicly. But in reality the lions do have tongues.
